I think she just chose the wrong word -- I think rather than race, she meant culture, which can be deduced by reading the rest of what she wrote.  She is offended by the fact that outsiders come into her country, with it's unique (Aussie) culture, and expect THAT (Aussie) culture to change to the former culture (Arabian) the outsiders came from.  A race is just hereditary physical characteristics--race hating is senseless; culture hating is something entirely different, especially when it encroaches on those with opposing cultures.
