Been awhile but I finally got me a nother laptop. HP Compac 8510w. Intel Centrino dual core 17500 @ 2.2 gHz, 2 gigs ram, 150 gig HD, 1920 x 1200 resolution screen, nVidia control panel. Ccleaner...MalwareBytes...MSE and everything is up to date. Sweet machine for $180.00 US refurbished. Win 7 Enterprise Edition. I don't know what that is, 64 bit. Gonna get back into stuff just as soon as I get it set up. Question...will my 320 gig HD from the other HP be compatible with this one. Can I swap it out?

When you swap HDD's, your OS will change. You realize that, right?

To check compatibility, go to the hp website and look it up.... you will also need new drivers for a different chipset, mobo, card, etc.

So 'just swapping' might well not work.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of MSE. MSE has a bad habit of slow detection.

Thanks Doc. That's what I wanted to know. Now...if I can move everything from that drive to this one. That'll be great.

Been using MSE since it came out here, on 3 different OS's and never had an issue like that occur.  Works great for me.

There is a way I am sure to connect your old HDD externally using a SATA cable if your new laptop has an external SATA connection.  That way you could just copy what you want off the old to the new without any hassles.

From a 320 to a 150?  I don't think it will all fit.

Okay. Another thing. How do I increase the size of the text in FF 6.02. Its really small and hard to see.

I've read reviews from many reputable sources that state MSE has a slow detection engine. I got rid of MSE because the auto updates can't be turned off and I don't like anything updating on it's own. Use Avast or AVG. Both get better marks.

On the old one it was only 27% full. With this one that might go to what...maybe thirty thirty five?

From my reading it is just the on demand scans that are slow and not so much the real time scans.

He does not need an enclosure. Just a special cable.

Hold Ctrl and scroll mouse wheel to increase the page size. I have tried screwing with the text size in FF and often end up with it crowded and running over.

That has already been mentioned, I am pointing out other options for consideration. An enclosure is good as then the drive can be used as an external drive.
