LOL! This randomness is a good reminder of why I joined this forum to begin with. Strange, but strangely perfect. And now back to work......ugh.....

Strange, but strangely perfect.

Of course it am.

electronic ones are better and smell nicer.

See

starkers

strange threads are those sane ones with some semblance of order and a modicum of composure.

I rest mine case.

Now if only we could electronically replace greedy bankers.... ALL bankers.

And real estate agents

Car salesmen

and advertising executives.

Oh wait!  Let's NOT replace advertising executives, we can manage perfectly without them.

Yup, we have 4 major banks here in Oz, plus several smaller banks, not that some of those are any better.  One thing we can be sure of it that all the banks here are greedy and will seek new ways to levy new charges against customers.... like account keeping fees if your balance falls below a certain amount; going into the bank for transactions rather than use an ATM; using another bank's ATM; using your ATM card to make purchases; depositing, drawing on cash cheques, and up to $25 for being a little short [like just a few cents] against a direct debit  There's probably other fees and charges, but those are the main ones I could think of here.

Now I have nothing against tellers and regular bankers, they are just doing their jobs  For the most part they are nice, polite and helpful.  No, it's just the upper echelon who are the proper bastards and seek opulence and extravegant lifestyles from the hard work of others

This is why I use mostly cash, and my banking is done at a locally owned (by the account holders) credit union.

Now, so I don't feel I'm hyjacking this thread (just learned about hyjacking threads) - let me write this: I don't think I could ever afford one of these 'beasts.'  If I could, I would not put the money into said beast.

Same here!  I use mostly cash when shopping at bricks n' mortar stores, though occasionally I will use my debit card [refuse to have a credit card] to purchase some items when my cash-in-hand is running low.   As for banking locally, I use a bank named Suncorp, which was the Metropolitan Credit Union prior to merging with the State Government Insurance Office and becoming a private bank to take advantage of frredoms credit unions can not.  I have an account with no fees or charges, so I'm satisfied with my banking experience with them thius far.
