I remember using paper tape on a PDP8 in the late 60's, but those both look like they predate that.
It's 'CSIR No1' or 'CSIRAC' and was the world's fifth-ever [and Australia's first] first Gen computer...and the only one still in existence [complete].
Was until recently on display at the Melbourne Museum ....and quite impressive too.
..and yes, it's old...it was decommissioned in '64...

That'll be the first...or close to....CSIRAC was 1949 ....but the thing is....it still exists ...
