A place to keep my work.
Lit the fire

I'm sorry, but sometimes I just gotta get things off my chest. So I'm gonna rant.

Ever since this todo with Weinstein or whatever his name is, all those allegations of improper behavior has IMO spiraled out of control. I got the new charger for my laptop and opening Chrome with Bing as my new search engine, I saw that Matt Lauer got fired from NBC for the same reason. What the hell does that say for our culture? Two dudes in Thailand bared their butts in front of a Holy Site and were promptly arrested by Thailand police. Now they want US help to get them out of it. (Since then I saw another article saying they were only fined). Such disrespect was unheard of when I was growing up.

In Brooklyn during the late fifties and sixties my neighborhood was as diverse as it gets. Jewish, Latino, Italian, African Americans. It ran the gamut. I had an uncle whose name was Walter. Not my real uncle but my dad's best friend. He was an African American and I looked up to him. Point being there was respect across the board. We didn't make exceptions. It didn't matter who you were or where you came from or what faith you followed, you were just another person.

This world has gone to shit and I hate like hell to imagine what our children will inherit. Rant over.

starkers

Hollywood and TV-land

High muck-a-mucks and wannabe bosses (insert facetious remark here), egomaniacs who are legends in their own minds. I know one who fits the bill.

Yep, there's one thing better than a fallen idol..... a tripped up one.

And what's the best way to trip one up?  Dig up a pile of dirt and put it where he's bound to trip over it.

And if in doubt about those, just ask your wife.
OH yes!        (Kitty'd just love that type question lol)

I suggest you guys go to Youtube, search for Jordan B. Peterson and watch as many videos of him as you can. He's a Canadian university teacher and psychology professor, one of the most reasonable and intelligent human beings I ever had the privilege of listening to. He talks about this and many other related things. He had the courage to, alone, put his job - and his life - on the line to try and stop the Canadian Bill C-16 from being passed on the Canadian Senate. This is a law that will FORCE you, under penalty of prison, to address transgender women and men by the pronoun/gender identity of THEIR choice, even if you don't agree with that. And it gets worse, because that pronoun can be anything they just made up like zie, zim, zir, zis, zieself, tey, ter, tem, terself, etc... No, I am not kidding.

To understand how utterly insane it is that something like this can actually pass into a law, and how unthinkable it would be just a handful of years ago, imagine me, being white, claiming never-the-less that I'm black and sending YOU to prison if you refuse to acknowledge my claim and address me as such.

Doing some research and from what I gather Peterson has been misinterpreting C-16. This is according to legal experts.

Peterson seems to be a jerk.

So men, you're in a real busy bar when a woman's breast pops out of her top.

A: Do you draw attention so everyone notices it?

B: Do you inform her of the mishap and see a hugely embarrassed red face that alerts everyone anyway?

C: Do you behave all gentleman-like, think of her potential embarrassment, and gently cup the protruding tit in one hand, pull out her top in the other and place the jubbly bit back before anyone notices?

Hmmmm!!!!  Each decision has inappropriate written all over it, though B is probably the safest... other than walk away, pretending you saw nothing after getting pics on your smart phone.

I wouldn't go with A because I'm simply not that generous in a bar full of inebriated blokes.  If they weren't alert enough to see it then tough titties.

As for C, well I don't mind playing the hero: "Look, love, it popped out and I just popped it back in for you before the whole bar noticed and embarrassed you."

Besides, I haven't touched one of those things in an eternity, so it'd kill two birds with one stone and I'd have that gooey feeling good feeling all over.

Yup, the inappropriate may just be 'appropriate' in some instances.  What are your thoughts?  Which would you choose: A, B or C?

Exactly. Keep my trap shut and look the other way. The upside is you'll always have the memory.

That is exactly what I would do, Tom.

No sense of adventure or daring.

I dunno, are we Aussies the only ones who'd play the hero in order to cop a handful?

Am I the only one willing to cop a spontaneous slap for handling the merchandise without prior approval?  C'mon blokes, Phoon, MadDeez and others of mischievous persuasion, what would you do?

Not sure where this thread has wandered off to...but re this question...a close friend of mine fell out of her bathers one time years ago at the beach and I figured it was only appropriate to let her know..cos she hadn't as yet noticed...

Some time later I did a portrait of her [in conte] ...she was the [then] wife of a long-time mate of mine...and she always claimed I had a 'lend of reality' when it came to her boob-size ....except I could always argue...nope...I'd seen them 'rampant' ...

Not sure where this thread has wandered off to.

Not so sure, either, but the question of how inappropriate each option is/would be has been on my mind since summer began.  Yup, it's that time of year when boobies tend to be more free-flowing and find that being out there in the great outdoors is more appealing more often, and I just wanted to know what other dirty old men would do when faced with an errant boob or two.  You know, like a bit of advice that may prevent prolonged procrastination.... or not.

and I figured it was only appropriate to let her know..cos she hadn't as yet noticed...

After how long.... before you let her know?

Had it been me, I probably would have procrastinated a while.... then: "By the way, [insert name here] your chest thingies have been hanging out for a few minutes.  Just thought you oughta know."

she always claimed I had a 'lend of reality' when it came to her boob-size ....except I could always argue...nope...I'd seen them 'rampant' ..

Ha-Ha!!!!  To have seen them... er, know they were 'rampant', you must've procrastinated a while as well.

Nothing wrong with that.

True story. Long before I got my own place I stayed at a day room and there was this really good looking blonde whose problem was an errant waistband. Sitting down and watching TV she walked in front of me and nearly a third of her butt crack was visible. I don't mind saying that I enjoyed the sight but courtesy won out and I told one of the aides, a female, to tell her that her butt was exposed. I thought it was better to spare her the embarrassment by not making it so obvious as the TV room was quite full. To this day I still have a clear memory of it as her backside was sooooo cute. Lol

True story!  Back in the 70's I was out buying baby clothes with my first wife one Friday after work, and yup, I was confronted with a situation, like the scenario above, where a woman's booby fell out.  It popped out while she was leaning over to get something from the very back of the shelf for her very pregnant companion... who couldn't reach.

Anyhow, the upshot of it all, being as sassy as all buggery back then, and full of gentlemanly bravado... I mean concern, I took option C and gently popped it back in her top for her: "There you go." I chirped.

For my effort, well I got a darned good slap across the jowls.... but not from the woman whose breast I had just fondle.... er, put back where it belonged.  She realised what I had done and why, I guess, so she thanked me.

No, the slap came from my [also] very pregnant [then] wife, who took exception to my kindly deed.

Peterson a jerk? How many videos of him did you see, if any?

Just name one or two things he said (with source, please) which, in your opinion, make him a jerk.

As for Bill C-16 being misinterpreted... Aren't you perhaps being a bit naive?

I think Peterson was clear in his discussion of C-16 that he was referring to the dangers of this law as interpreted by the *Human Rights tribunals* (as he discussed being levied a fine and then going to jail on non-payment, which seems to suggest tribunals rather than the court system). He might have overstated some aspects, but I don't think he overstated the potential consequences.

In fact, the very nasty consequences of political correctness are now in plain sight for everyone to see. People these days are ALREADY afraid to speak their minds lest they lose their jobs or something worse.

The bottom line is that Bill C-16 is a law that controls what you can and cannot *say*. If that doesn't make you nervous regarding the potential to limit and harm free speech, it should. This is how it ALWAYS starts: bit by bit, and ALWAYS under the guise of a 'noble cause'. The real motives, however, are far darker: it is really about the control some groups want to exert over you.

This is how it ALWAYS starts: bit by bit, and ALWAYS under the guise of a 'noble cause'. The real motives, however, are far darker: it is really about the control some groups want to exert over you.

The truth is, the true motive is always much darker when it comes to law making, and too often, lawmakers espouse laws that are supposed to be for the common good, when in fact there is a hidden agenda which is far from being for the common good.

For mine, this Bill C-16 is political correctness completely out of control.  When the authorities legislate against, and can potentially imprison people for various words and phrases, there is something abundantly wrong and we, as a society, lose even more liberties and freedoms.  And what's even more annoying, is that many of the minority groups who lobby for these sorts of laws are often the worst offenders, complaining about offensive remarks while all the time they themselves dish them out in spades.

The other thing that pisses me off is just how much real crime -serious crime - goes by without prosecution and is unpunished.   I mean, seriously, a person could be imprisoned for uttering a few words, yet real criminals get away with murder, etc?  Like I said, there is something abundantly wrong.
